Our first ACCENT ON ORFF to be held in the welcoming atmosphere of Beatroute Arts in Balornock, Glasgow was a wonderful event with 19 participants coming from a wide range of areas in music education _ nursery, primary school, community provision and university, both teaching and post graduate.
The centre, under director and Orff Scotland committee member Jenny Reeve, has developed, in six years, into a lively hub of music tuition and community activity and Andrea Sangiorgio made full use of their splendid sound system and full complement of Orff instruments.
Under his inspirational leadership, movement, rhythm, dance, song and collaborative musicmaking for all age ranges were explored and enjoyed.
This was a memorable and successful ACCENT.
“The most effective form of music methodology I’ve ever encountered. Having used the approach from tiny tots to older adults, I can say…this really does work! An inclusive, accessible approach to music education? What more could you ask for! Beatroute was a fantastic venue – a great space and not far from the centre. Food was amazing too – very well catered for and the lunching together created a sense of community.”
